Share a page of notes or an entire notebook from OneNote for Windows 10

Sharing your notes is easy in OneNote for Windows 10. You can share an entire notebook and allow notebook participants to view or fully edit your notes. If your notebook is stored in your personal OneDrive account, you can even share a single page of notes that others can view.

Share an entire notebook

Do the following:

  1. In OneNote for Windows 10, open the notebook you want to share.

  2. In the upper right corner of the app window, click or tap Share.

Top right corner of the OneNote window showing the location of the Share button.

Note: If you don’t see the Share button, you might be using OneNote 2016 and not OneNote for Windows 10. Here’s how to share notebooks using OneNote 2016.

  3. In the drop-down box on the Share task pane that opens, select This notebook.

  4. Under Email invitation, type one or more email addresses of the people with whom you want to share the current notebook.

  5. In the drop-down box, select Can edit if you want selected participants to be able to change your notes, otherwise select Can view.

  6. Click or tap Share.

Share a single page of notes

If your notebook is stored in your personal OneDrive account, you can share a single page of notes that others can view, but not edit. You can’t do this in notebooks associated with work or school accounts, but you can still share the entire notebook.

Do the following:

  1. In OneNote for Windows 10, open the page you want to share.

  2. In the upper right corner of the app window, click or tap Share.

Top right corner of the OneNote window showing the location of the Share button.

Note: If you don’t see the Share button, you might be using OneNote 2016 and not OneNote for Windows 10. Although you can’t share a single page of notes in OneNote 2016, you can send OneNote notes in email.

  3. In the drop-down box on the Share task pane that opens, select This page.

  4. Under Publish this Page, click or tap Create.

When the link has been created, click Copy, and then paste (Ctrl+V) the copied link into any email, on social media, or anywhere else you want to share your page.

Note: To send a copy (or a screenshot) of the current page in email, skip the preceding steps and click or tap Send a copy at the bottom of the Share task pane. If you make changes to your notes later, any copies you previously sent to others with this option will not be automatically updated.
