Setting Security Account policies in Management Reporter

The Security Account policies enable you to set preferences for the following:

  • The number of times users can attempt to log on before they are locked out for a specific time period

  • The length of passwords

  • How frequently users are required to change their passwords

To change the Security Account policies, do the following:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Security Account Policy.

  2. Complete the following boxes:

    • Account lockout threshold

      Enter the number of times a user can enter the wrong password before the user is locked out of the application for a specific time. The default number is 5.

    • Account lockout duration

      Enter the amount of time that the user will be locked out due to an improper log on. The default number is 10.

    • Minimum password length

      Enter the minimum number of characters that a user must enter as a password. This password is only valid if you are using the Application authentication for the user. The default number is 6.

    • Change passwords every

      Enter the frequency that a user has to change the password. This is only valid if you are using the Application authentication for a user. The default number is 90.

    • Enable password complexity requirements

      Select this check box if you want to require a user to enter a more complex password. If you select this option, to be accepted, a password must include capital letters, numbers, and special characters.
