There are a few different file formats, like .pptx and .odp, you can save presentations as in PowerPoint. You can choose which file format you want to be the default when you save your presentations.
Note: Not all features are supported in OpenDocument format. For more info, see Supported features in OpenDocument presentation (.odp) format
Switch your default file format

Do one of the following:

In PowerPoint 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button
> PowerPoint Options. -
In PowerPoint 2010, PowerPoint 2013, or PowerPoint 2016, select File > Options.

Select Save.

Under Save presentations, in the Save files in this format list, choose the file format you want to use by default.
