Deleting WordArt can be tricky because when you add WordArt your text is placed in an invisible box.
So to remove WordArt, you delete both the WordArt text and the box.
Click the border of the WordArt box. Depending on where you clicked, you might need to click again to make sure the border is selected. The cursor will change to a four header arrow, and when that happens, press Delete.
