As used in a deployment implementation diagram, a node is a run-time physical object that represents a processing resource. Nodes are usually computing devices but can also represent human resources or mechanical processing resources.
You can define a node as either a type (with a node-type name such as PC or HostMachine) or an instance (with a name and node type, such as Joe's Machine:PC or AdminServer:HostMachine).
Node instances can contain component instances and objects, and nodes can be connected to other nodes by communication associations.
Name a Node Instance shape, choose the node of which it is an instance, and add other property values
Open the element's UML Properties dialog box by double-clicking the icon that represents the element in the tree view or the shape that represents the element in a diagram.
Control which property values display on a shape in a diagram by right-clicking the shape, and then clicking Shape Display Options. In the UML Shape Display Options dialog box, select and clear options to display or hide property values.

Right-click the shape, click Shape Display Options, and then select or clear options to show or hide values.
Hide the name of the node of which the node instance is an instance
Right-click the Node Instance shape, click Shape Display Options, and then clear Node Name.
Navigate to other views of the node
Right-click the shape, click Views, select the view you want, and then click OK.
Change node instance size
Drag a corner selection handle to resize the Node Instance shape proportionally or a side selection handle to make the shape taller or wider.
Change the depth of a Node Instance shape
Drag the control handle up to increase node depth or down to decrease node depth.
