How do I sign in to the Skype for Business app?

You need a sign-in address and password from an organization that has a business subscription to Microsoft 365. If you’re already using Skype for Business on your desktop, then you have a Skype for Business account.

How do I reset my password?

If you forgot your password, or it doesn’t work anymore, contact your workplace technical support—typically the person who set up your Skype for Business account for you. Provide them with these links:

What’s the format of my sign-in address and user name?

Your sign-in address looks like this: user@domain.com.

You may be asked for both a user name and a sign-in address. The user name is what you use to sign in to your organization’s network, either user@domain.com or domain\username.

I can sign in to Skype for Business on my desktop, but not on my mobile device

If your organization is using Microsoft 365, see Skype for Business (Lync) Online Sign-in Guided Walkthrough for Users.

If your organization is using Skype for Business Server, contact your workplace technical support—typically the person who set up your Skype for Business account for you. Provide them with this link: Deploying Mobility in Lync Server 2013.

Do I need to enter proxy settings?

If you’re behind an authenticated proxy, you’ll need to provide proxy authentication information, as follows.

  • From the Sign-in screen, tap Show Advanced Option, the icon on the bottom left, and then tap HTTP Proxy to enter your proxy settings.

I’m trying to sign in to Lync Server 2010 but I have the Lync 2013 app installed

If you’ve installed the Lync 2013 app on your mobile device but are trying to sign in to Lync Server 2010, uninstall the Lync 2013 app and install the Lync 2010 app. From your mobile, go to the Google Play Store, and search for Microsoft Lync 2010 for Android.

How long do I stay signed in on Skype for Business app for Android?

Once you’re signed in you’ll remain signed in while as long as there is connectivity. If connectivity is lost for 30 or more minutes, you’ll be signed out. If you have connectivity but haven’t used the application for 10 days, you’ll be signed out.

Can I install both Lync 2010 for Android and Lync 2013 for Android on the same device?

This is not recommended. If you install both apps, you’ll receive double alerts for incoming calls and IMs. If you’re on February 2013 Cumulative Update for Lync Server 2013 or later, and you’re able to sign in to Lync 2013 for Android, you need to uninstall Lync 2010 for Android app.
