Inventory Valuation report: options and information

Available in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2008 only.

The Inventory Valuation report contains information that you can use to trace and analyze the transactions that affect each inventory item. You can then examine the effects of those transactions on the number and value of stock on hand, and use this report as a guide for physical counts of inventory items.

Open the report

  • On the Reports menu, point to Inventory, and then click Inventory Valuation.

Report content

The information for each item in the report includes the transaction dates, customer or vendor names, quantities purchased or sold, values of purchases and sales, and on hand quantities and values.

To view additional information, such as item groups and the running total value of each item, do the following:

  • On the toolbar, click Modify Report, and then in the Modify Report pane, select the appropriate Columns options.

Change date range

To change the date range for this report, do the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the arrow next to Date Range, From, or To.

Sort by report groups

You can sort the groups within the report in addition to sorting the rows within the groups:

  • To sort the groups within the report, on the toolbar, click the arrow next to Sort Report Groups by, and then select an option.

  • To switch between ascending and descending order, click the sort by ascending or sort by descending buttons on the toolbar.
