Insert the date in a header

To add the date at the top of every printed page, insert the date in your worksheet’s header. You can also add the date to the bottom of every printed page.

  1. Click Insert>Header & Footer.

Tip: If you have Freeze Panes turned on, Unfreeze locked panes before you add the date.

  1. Click the left, center, or right header box at the top of the worksheet.

  1. Click Design > Current Date.

  1. Click anywhere in the worksheet, and then click View > Normal.

Why can’t I see the header in my workbook?

Click View > Page Layout. Headers show up only in Page Layout view, Print Preview, and on printed pages.
