The following table provides information and tips for entering advanced IMAP settings. To access these settings from the primary IMAP Account preferences dialog box, click the Advanced button, and then click the Folders tab.

Description

Store sent messages in this folder

You can select a folder on the server or on your computer. If you select a folder on your computer, you save storage space in your IMAP account. However, you can't access these messages from other computers.

Don't store a copy of sent messages

This option allows you to not store a copy of your sent messages in the Sent folder.

Store draft messages in this folder

You can select a folder on the server or on your computer. If you select a folder on your computer, you save storage space in your IMAP account. However, you can't access these messages from other computers.

Store junk messages in this folder

You can select a folder on the server or on your computer. If you select a folder on your computer, you save storage space in your IMAP account. However, you can't access these messages from other computers.

Move deleted messages to this folder

This option moves deleted messages from their current folder to the folder that you select. You can also select the interval after which deleted messages are purged.

Mark messages as deleted

This option marks messages as deleted in their current folder but doesn't move them to a different folder.

Do not automatically delete messages

Select this preference if you want to purge all deleted items manually.

Permanently erase deleted messages when Outlook closes

Select this preference to purge all deleted messages when Outlook closes.
