I cannot change my password to gain access to a shared Business Contact Manager database on a remote computer

Symptoms

When using Business Contact Manager for Outlook, you try to access a shared database on a remote computer, and you are asked to change your password. When you enter your password, you receive a message saying:

Cannot change your password on computer computername. For information about possible causes, click Help.

where computername is the name of the computer where the Business Contact Manager database is located.
