I can't hear an audio file

Cause: Some audio file formats do not work in earlier versions of PowerPoint.

Solution:    Use a different audio file format in your PowerPoint 2011 presentation.

  • Insert any of the following audio file formats:

.aif, .aiff, .aifc

QuickTime Movie Sound

.mov, .moov, .qt

Note: QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) files, which also have a file extension of .mov or .qt, do not play if added to a PowerPoint 2011 presentation.

Note: To play Windows Media Audio and Video you need Windows Media Components for QuickTime by Flip4Mac, which is a third-party software application.

Cause: Music added to the presentation was purchased from the iTunes Store.

Solution:    Run the presentation on the computer that was used to purchase the music.

When you include music as part of a presentation, be aware that music files purchased from the iTunes Store can only be played on authorized computers, and people whom you share presentations with might be unable to play iTunes files.

Cause: Windows Media files, such as .wma or .wmv, require a third-party software application.

Solution:    Install Windows Media Components for QuickTime by Flip4Mac on your computer.

Windows Media Components for QuickTime by Flip4Mac, a third-party software application, is required to play .wma or .wmv files.
