The following features and functionality that have been discontinued or changed in SharePoint Server 2010.

Insert Clip Art dialog box
In SharePoint Server 2010, the Insert Clip Art dialog box searches only online for a clip art image, and no longer searches the local Pictures folder. You can open the Insert Clip Art dialog box when you are editing a Microsoft Office document in the SharePoint Server 2010 browser window.
If you want to look in the local Pictures folder for clip art, select Picture on the Insert tab instead of selecting Clip Art.
Site Directory template
The Site Directory template is not available in SharePoint Server 2010, although its functionality has been preserved for upgraded sites. A custom solution that reproduces much of the same functionality is available at Site Directory on CodePlex.
Other SharePoint templates
Some site templates, such as the news, document workspace, and collaboration portal templates, are not available in SharePoint Server 2010. They have been replaced by Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions.
Use the publishing sites template to replace the news and collaboration portal templates. Or, use the social tagging features in SharePoint Server 2010 to get much of the functionality provided in these templates.
The Search Center and Search Center with Tabs templates have been replaces by Search Server 2010.
The Report Center site template has been replaced by the Business Intelligence Center site template. The Dashboard Web Part template has been removed.
The SharePoint Key Performance Indicators features have been renamed to focus on status.
SharePoint Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are now Status Indicators.
SharePoint KPI Details are now Indicator Details.
Also, in PerformancePoint Services, you can use KPIs that are created by using Dashboard Designer, and the new KPI Details report, which is created by using Dashboard Designer and is separate functionality from SharePoint Indicators Details.

Themes in SharePoint 2010 have been redesigned to simplify the process of generating themes. Themes created in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 are not compatible with SharePoint Foundation 2010. If you are upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010, you can use Visual Upgrade to continue to use sites in the old user interface. However, we recommend that you use the new user interface in SharePoint Foundation 2010 to create themes and apply them to your sites.
Access Web Datasheet requires that your browser be configured to support ActiveX controls, and that you have the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office 2010 installed on your computer. By default, Edit in Datasheet View is not supported on 64-bit installations of Microsoft Office. The Single Sign-On (SSO) method of authentication has been removed from SharePoint 2010 and replaced by the Secure Store Service. The Secure Store Service is a claims-aware authorization service that includes a secure database for storing credentials that are associated with application IDs. These application IDs can be used to authorize access to external data sources.
32-bit operating systems
SharePoint Server 2010 requires a 64-bit operating system. Because SharePoint Server 2010 has many features that benefit from the performance provided by 64-bit operating systems, running SharePoint Server 2010 on 32-bit operating systems is no longer supported. (Note: You can run Microsoft Office 2010 in 32-bit mode with SharePoint Server 2010 in 64-bit mode.)
The gradual upgrade feature is no longer supported in SharePoint 2010. There are no options in the user interface that offer a gradual upgrade.
The gradual update feature allowed an organization to create a side-by-side installation of the new version of SharePoint while continuing to use the older version that is being replaced. The organization then could gradually migrate sites and site collections to the new installation of SharePoint. Because side-by-side installations can mask compatibility issues that may be caught and resolved earlier by performing an in-place upgrade, gradual upgrade is no longer supported in SharePoint Server 2010.
Translation Management Library
The Translation Management Library has been removed from the SharePoint Server 2010 user interface, but it can be activated using stsadm commands.
The translation management library is composed of two features. One feature is on by default in the Document Center template, and the other must be manually activated through an stsadm command from the SharePoint 2010 bin directory:
stsadm –o activatefeature –filename TransMgmtLib\feature.xml –url <your site url>
SharePoint Server 2010 does not support Web discussions. Users cannot create, edit, or view Web discussions.
Sub-site permission levels
You cannot customize sub-site permission levels through the user interface in SharePoint Server 2010. Site permission levels are defined and controlled through the top-level site in the site collection.
Note: Site administrators can customize sub-site permission levels through Central Administration.
Sites that have already unique permission levels will keep their permissions. Developers can still assign different permissions levels for new sub-sites programmatically.
Add All Authenticated Users
The link to Add All Authenticated Users that appeared on the Edit Group page in previous versions has been removed in SharePoint Foundation 2010.
You can grant permissions to all authenticated users in Windows-authenticated environments by typing NT Authority\authenticated users into the Select Users field in the Grant Permissions dialog box, but keep in mind that doing so gives access to all members of your domain, which could include vendors, partners, and other people from other companies.
Office Web Components
SharePoint Server 2010 no longer supports Office Web Components (OWC). The following four report types are no longer available in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer:
Dashboard authors can use analytic charts/grids, Excel Services reports, and SQL Server Reporting Services reports as replacement report types.
Storage Management page
The Storage Management page has been removed, and the link to the Storage Management page from the Site Administrator page has been removed, to reduce performance slowdowns.
Web bot functionality
Developers cannot use Web bot entry points and users cannot add Web bots to SharePoint Server 2010 sites. Information from existing Web bots will display as HTML code.
E-mail enabled groups and Directory Management service (DMS)
If a SharePoint farm is using Directory Management service (DMS) v2, users cannot enable SharePoint groups to use e-mail. The type of authorization used in DMS is being replaced with claims authentication.
Scorecard Export to Reporting Services
PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer no longer supports exporting a scorecard to SQL Server Reporting Services.
SQL Server 2000 data sources
SQL Server 2000 data sources are no longer supported in SharePoint Server 2010. Use data sources that are on SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.
Shared Services Provider (SSP)
Shared Services Providers (SSPs) do not exist in SharePoint Server 2010. This functionality is replaced with individual service applications, each of which uses its own database and can be configured in Central Administration. Use service applications for many of the features that were supported and configured in SSPs.
PerformancePoint Services is only available in SharePoint Server, not SharePoint Foundation. This means you cannot deploy a PerformancePoint dashboard to SharePoint Foundation.
(In the previous version, PerformancePoint Server 2007 worked with either Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (called SharePoint Foundation in 2010) or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (called SharePoint Server in 2010.)
