Deployment advisors for Office 365 services

The deployment wizards for Office 365 give you self-guided support for setting up Office 365. Just select a wizard and sign in to Office 365. As you select the features and options you want to deploy, the wizard builds a step-by-step setup plan that’s customized to your needs. You’ll get a full set of instructions, videos, reference articles, and scripts. The wizard won’t change any of your organization’s settings or data. Instead, you make the changes using the wizard to guide you. You can use these wizards anytime, even during planning or after you’ve already set up the services, to learn more about Office 365 features and options.

A minimal or express hybrid deployment is recommended when you don't need all the features of full hybrid and you haven't yet set up directory sync or a hybrid environment. This assistant will help you deploy the minimal hybrid option for migration and recipient administration without the overhead of full hybrid, or the express hybrid option for quickly migrating all users to Office 365.

The Office 365 mail migration advisor will help you determine the best way to move users and mailboxes to Office 365. Recommendations are based on your current email system, the number of users and mailboxes you want to migrate, and how you plan to manage users and user access.

The Exchange staged migration assistant helps you migrate your mailboxes to Office 365 in phases over several weeks or months. An Exchange staged migration is recommended when your existing email system is Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007 and you want to move user accounts and mailbox content to Office 365 in stages over time.

These wizards include steps for Exchange hybrid migration, creating your Office 365 mailboxes, and setting up directory synchronization between Office 365 and your on-premises environment.

Use the Gmail mailbox migration assistant to migrate your Gmail mailboxes to Office 365. You can move Gmail mailboxes to Office 365 using the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) migration steps outlined in this wizard. When you migrate a user's Gmail mailbox to Office 365, email messages are migrated, but contacts and calendar items are not. This wizard provides the additional steps needed for importing Gmail contacts and Google Calendar items to Office 365.

The Gmail contacts and calendar assistant gives step-by-step instructions for migrating your Gmail contacts and Google Calendar items to Office 365. When you migrate a user's Gmail mailbox to Office 365, email messages are migrated, but contacts and calendar items are not. The IMAP mailbox migration assistant provides step-by-step instructions for migrating your Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) mailboxes to Office 365 if your current email system supports IMAP. Contacts and calendar items are not migrated during an IMAP mail migration, but the wizard includes additional steps to help you import contacts and calendars into Office 365.

In Office 365, directory integration refers to the synchronization of user account information between your on-premises directory service (Active Directory) and the Office 365 directory service (Azure Active Directory). This step-by-step guide shows you how to add user account information to Office 365 without manually creating each user. It also shows you how to configure password synchronization so users can sign into their email and your domain using the same password. If you choose to set up federated sign-in with AD FS, this guide also gives you steps for deploying AD FS on a new server or in an existing Windows Server 2012 R2 farm. AAD Connect replaces older versions of identity integration tools, such as DirSync and Azure AD Sync, and is primarily used for adding users and other data to Azure Active Directory for Office 365.
