Creating links to items or views in a 2007 Forms or 2010 Lists tool

You can create a link that goes to a specific item or view in a 2007 Forms or 2010 Lists tool. You can paste a link to an item or view into any tool that supports rich text, such as Notepad, Chat, or a rich-text field in another 2007 Forms or 2010 Lists item.

Creating a link to an item

To create a link to an item:

  1. Click the item you would like to link to.

  2. On the Home tab, click Copy as Link.

  3. Go to the rich-text location in which you would like to paste the link.

  4. Right-click and select Paste.

If you want, you can edit the link text.

Creating a link to a view

If you want to create links to views, you must add the Copy View as Link command to the Ribbon or to the Quick Access Toolbar.

To create a link to a view:

  1. Change to the view you would like to link to.

  2. Click Copy View as Link from its Ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar location.

  3. Go to the rich-text location in which you would like to paste the link.

  4. Right-click and then click Paste.

If you want, you can edit the link text.
