Create a new application and root model site

In PerformancePoint Planning, users who are assigned to the Global Administration role can create or delete applications. Users who are assigned to either the Data Administrator role or the Modeler role can manage an application.

Note:  To avoid potential database errors in multiple-server environments, we recommend that you use PerformancePoint Planning Administration Console to perform all Global Administrator tasks.

You can create an application in Planning Business Modeler by specifying the name, label, and description for the application and root model site. However, to specify other properties after the application is created, you must edit the application in Planning Administration Console.

See the Documentation Map for Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 for information that you should consider before you create an application in Planning Business Modeler.

Important: In Planning Administration Console, you must provide locations for the form templates, report storage, and assignment forms folders that support process workflow features such as assignments and data entry forms. If you do not specify locations for these folders, users might receive errors and PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel will not be able to show supporting documents such as form templates.
