Create a group in Yammer

Groups in Yammer make it easy to work together on projects and events by providing a central place for your conversations, files, and updates.

Create a group in Yammer

  1. In a browser, go to Yammer.com.

    If you’re not already signed in, select Log in at the upper right corner of the screen and enter your email address and password.

  2. At the bottom-left corner of the screen, select Create a new group.

  3. Choose one of the following:

    Note: If your network has turned off the ability to create external networks, you'll only see the option for Internal Group.

    Select Internal Group to collaborate with people inside your company.

    Select External Group to collaborate with people who work at other companies.

  4. Under Group Name, enter the name of your group.

  5. Under Group Members, enter the names or email addresses of anyone you want to add to the group.

  6. Under Who can view this content, select one of the following:

    • Public: Anyone on your network can view the content posted to this group.

    • Private: Only approved members of this group can view the content.

  7. Select Create Group.

Is my group in Yammer connected to Office 365?

With just a glance, you can tell if your group in Yammer is connected to Office 365:

  • On the right side of the screen, look for Office 365 Resources. If you see this, your group in Yammer is connected to Office 365.
