Create a Data Feed Library

Important: Click PowerPivot Data Feeds to view the latest information about this subject on the Microsoft web site.

A data feed library is a place to create and share data service documents that can be used to generate data feeds on demand. A data feed is XML data that is returned by an Atom 1.0 web service. You can use a data feed to stream data to a PowerPivot data source in an Excel workbook.

A data feed library always contains data service document (.atomsvc) files, and never the data feed itself. Unlike a data feed, which consists of static XML data, the data service document specifies a URL to a service or application that generates a feed upon request, providing reusable connection information for repeatable import operations.
