Configure default permissions for business roles in Planning Business Modeler

You must belong to the Data Administrator or Modeler role to modify default permissions for a business role.

The default permissions for a business role apply to dimension members and sets of dimension members in the model site. Specific Read or Write permissions for a member or member set can exempt them from the defaults. However, before users in a business role can access any model data, you must enable access to model data for the business role.

To modify the default permissions for a business role, use the following procedure:

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, click Security and Roles.

  2. In the Security and Roles workspace, select Business Roles Only from the View drop-down list.

  3. In the list of roles, click the role that you want to change.

  4. In the Security and Roles Tasks pane, click Edit the Role Default Permissions to open the corresponding dialog box.

  5. Under Default permissions, move the slider to select the default permissions for the role. The configuration that you select will apply to every member set in the model site. This includes member sets that are added in the future.

    Options for default permissions

    • No access. This is the default configuration. Users who are assigned to this role cannot access any member set in the model site.

    • Read-only access. Users assigned to this role receive Read-only access to all member sets in the model site. Users assigned to this role do not receive Write access to any member set in the model site.

    • Read and Write access. Recommended only for evaluation environments. Users who are assigned to this role receive Read and Write access to all member sets in the model site.

  6. On the File menu, click Save Model Site to save your changes to Planning Server.
