Adding an entity in Management Reporter

When you first start Microsoft Office PerformancePoint 2007 Management Reporter, you create an entity to specify the information that is specific to an individual financial data entity.

Create an entity

  1. On the Entity menu, click Entities.

  2. In the Entities dialog box, click New.

  3. In the New Entity dialog box, specify the entity information:

    1. In the Entity name box, type a unique name for the entity that corresponds with your name in the source system.

    2. In the Entity description box, type a description that corresponds with the Management Reporter entity name. This name appears on your reports by default.

    3. In the Source system list, click a connection to a source system.

To examine or change the settings for this connection, click Settings. For information about connection settings, see Configuring the Connection to a Source System.

  4. In the Building block group list, leave the Default option selected.

    1. To work with an existing building block group, click that name from the Building Block Group list.

    2. To create a new building block group, click New. For more information, see Creating a Building Block Group.

  5. In the Regional options box, select the region and currency for the entity's amounts.

  6. In the Period description box, do one of the following:

    1. If the accounting periods for your entity are full months, leave the text as Month Ending.

    2. If the accounting periods for your entity are not full months, type Period Ending.

  7. In the Period description (plural) box, do one of the following:

    1. If the accounting periods for your entity are full months, leave the text as Months Ending.

    2. If the accounting periods for your entity are not full months, type Periods Ending.

  8. Click OK to return to the Entities dialog box, and then click Close.

Note: Management Reporter automatically saves the entity information when you close the Entities dialog box.
