Add, edit, or remove product and service items in an Opportunity record in Business Contact Manager

When you use product and service items in an Opportunity record in Business Contact Manager for Outlook, you can begin to assess how valuable this opportunity can be for you and your business.

Note: Business Contact Manager for Outlook automatically calculates the total discount and price for the product and service items as you add them to the Opportunity. After you designate the Opportunity as Closed (won), Business Contact Manager for Outlook calculates and displays the expected revenue. This is the difference between the total price you charge and the total cost to you.

Add product or service items to an Opportunity

  1. On the Business Contact Manager menu, click Opportunities.

  2. Double-click the Opportunity record that you want to add the product or service information to.

  3. In the Product and Services section, click Add.

  4. In the Add Product or Service dialog box, select an item in your Product and Service Items list, or click Edit this list to create a new item, or edit an existing item.

  5. After completing the form for this item, you can click OK to save the item and return to the Opportunity record, or click Add New to save the item and add another item.

    Notes: 

    • The Edit button on the Products and Services form is available if the item is listed only in Business Contact Manager for Outlook. If Business Contact Manager for Outlook is integrated with your accounting system, the list could include items from your accounting system and items that are listed only in Business Contact Manager for Outlook. If the item was added to the Products and Services Items List from your accounting system, you cannot edit information about the item.

    • If Business Contact Manager for Outlook is integrated with your accounting system, new items that are added using the Products and Services form are not integrated into the Items list in your accounting system. Product and service items from the Items list in your accounting system are integrated into the Product and Service Items List in Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

Edit existing product or service items listed in an Opportunity

  1. On the Business Contact Manager menu, click Opportunities.

  2. Double-click the Opportunity record that contains product and service items you want to edit.

  3. In the Product and Services section, select an item, and then click Edit.

  4. In the Edit Product or Service dialog box, make the changes you want.

    Note:  If Business Contact Manager for Outlook is integrated with your accounting system, the list could include items from your accounting system and items that are listed only in Business Contact Manager for Outlook. The Description, Unit cost, and Unit Price fields are not editable for items that come from your accounting system.

    To make changes in your Product and Service Items list, in the Item name field, click Edit this list.

Remove a product or service item from an Opportunity

  1. On the Business Contact Manager menu, click Opportunities.

  2. Double-click the Opportunity record that contains the product and service items that you want to remove.

  3. In the Product and Services section, select an item, and then click Remove.
