Add a contact to your Contact List

You can add a contact by doing one of the following:

  • Searching your organization's address book.

  • Using the contact’s e-mail address (for contacts who use a public IM provider or are members of another organization).

  • Adding the contact during a conversation.

Note: When you add a contact to your Contact List, Communicator Mobile requests the contact’s permission to display presence status to you. Until the contact explicitly changes your Access Level to their presence information, you are allowed to view the default presence information for that contact. If the contact changes your Access Level, the contact’s presence status in the Contact List will be updated to include the type of presence and contact information granted at your new level of access.

To add a contact by using search

  1. Click Menu > Find/Add Someone.

  2. Click Find by display name, and then click the search option that you want.

  3. Enter the first name, last name, e-mail address, or display name of the person whom you want to add to your Contact List, and then click Find.

  4. In Search Results, click the name of the person whom you want to add to your Contact List, and then click Select > Menu > Add Contact.

  5. Click the name of the group to which you want to add the contact, and then click OK.

To add a contact by using the contact's e-mail address

  1. In the main window, click Menu > Find/Add Someone.

  2. Click Find by display name > Find by e-mail address.

  3. Enter the contact’s full e-mail address, and then click Find.

  4. In Search Results, click the address of the person whom you want to add to your Contact List, and then click Select > Menu > Add Contact.

    Note: When you type a complete e-mail address, Communicator Mobile does not attempt to validate the address.

  5. Click the name of the group to which you want to add the contact, and then click OK.

To add a contact during a conversation

  1. In the Conversation window, click Menu > Actions.

  2. Click Menu > Add Contact.

    Note: If the user is already in your Contact List, then Delete Contact displays instead.

  3. Click the name of the group to which you want to add the contact, and then click OK.
