Add a birthday event or holiday calendar in Outlook.com

Note: Sign in to Outlook.com using email accounts ending in @outlook.com, @live.com, @hotmail.com or @msn.com.

You can add a birthday event or a holiday calendar in Outlook.com.

Tip: Before you can add a birthday event, you'll need to turn on the birthday calendar if you haven't done it already.

Turn on the birthday calendar

  1. On the Outlook navigation bar, click the app launcher Select the app launcher , and then click Calendar.

  2. Click Settings Click Settings > Options.

  3. Under Calendar, click Birthday calendar.

  4. Select Turn on the birthday calendar, and then click Save.

Add a birthday event

  1. On the Outlook navigation bar, click the app launcher Select the app launcher , and then click Calendar.

  2. On the Calendar navigation bar, click New > Birthday event.

  3. Under Details, enter the name, birth date, set a reminder, and click Save.

    The birthday appears in your calendar.

Tips: Calendar is connected to your contact list in People, so:

  • If you add a birthday in Calendar, and the person isn't in your contact list, they'll be added.

  • If you add a birthday to a contact in People, the birthday will be added to your calendar.

  • If you add a birthday in Calendar, and the name you enter matches someone in your contact list, the birthday will be added to their contact.

  1. On the Outlook navigation bar, click the app launcher Select the app launcher , and then click Calendar.

  2. On the Calendar navigation bar, click New > Holiday calendar.

  3. In the right pane, select the holiday calendar you want, and then click Save.
