If one or more of the message recipients doesn't receive a message that you sent, you can use the Resend This Message command. The resend command can also be used to quickly send the message to new recipients.

Resending vs. forwarding

The resend command displays the original sent message —there’s no added information, unlike a forwarded message that displays the message body header information for the previous message  (sender, date, and recipients).

Try It!

  1. In the folder pane, select Sent Items.

  2. Double-click the message that you want to resend.

  3. On the Message tab, in the Move group, click Actions, and then click Resend This Message.

    You can resend a message.

Tips: When the new message displays, you can:

    • Remove recipients who don’t need to receive the message again. Select the name(s) > Delete.

    • Add new recipients, add or remove attachments, and change the contents of the message.

  4. Select Send.

Note: To resend multiple messages, repeat these instructions for each message. There isn’t a way to resend multiple messages at one time.

Message drop down to resend email

  2. Select the email to resend.

  3. Select Message > Resend.

Note: Another method to resend an email, once the sent email has been selected, is to right click the email and select Resend. Make any changes and select Send.
