Additional Steps

Audio and Video Formats

PowerPoint 2011 uses QuickTime to play audio and video, so use the formats supported by QuickTime.

For movies, use one of these formats:

  • QuickTime Movie (.mov)

  • MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v)

  • MPEG-2 (OS X Lion or later)

  • MPEG-1

  • 3GPP

  • 3GPP2

PowerPoint formats

Use the newer PowerPoint format that has the file extension - .pptx, .ppsx, and .potx.

The newer format enables the app to open, edit and save files faster than the earlier formats (.ppt, .pps, and .pot).

Reduce the number of PowerPoint windows open.

Close other apps that are running on your computer.

Close and reopen PowerPoint.
