Design an automated workflow in Visio

Visio and Power Automate now work together to help you get things done faster more simply. Create a BPMN diagram in Visio and export to Power Automate to automate workflows between your apps and services.

How to

  1. Open the Visio desktop app and go to New > Templates > Flowchart. Under the Flowchart category, select Microsoft Flow Diagram and choose the template you want to work with.

  2. Design your workflow, then on the Process tab in the Microsoft Flow group, select Export.

  3. In the Flow Mapping tab of the Export pane, Select a trigger. This is the event that starts your workflow.

  4. Under Map conditions, select either If yes or If no for each gateway connector to create the logic for your workflow.

  5. Select a BPMN shape in your diagram to open the Triggers and Actions tab. Select a trigger or action appropriate for that shape. Repeat for all the shapes in your diagram.

  6. Select the Refresh button. Under Resolve issues, check to see if you have any issues that need to be addressed and fix them.

  7. After all issues have been resolved and you're ready to export, select Export to Flow at the top of the Export pane.

  8. Rename your flow as needed. You may also be required to sign in to different services depending on the triggers and actions in your workflow. Select Create flow to finish.
